I've created a new Technorati Profile and am really getting this tagging thing down. Why didn't I think of this before?
On the flip side...It happened again last night. While we slept. An armed man (or two men perhaps) barged into a house, obviously looking for a man or men (gang or drug related?). Apparently they didn't find who or what they sought, so they killed the house's sole occupants: two young women and two little babies. I won't go into details as I'm too upset that two FOOLS stormed into a house and murdered four innocent people.
See the story on Indychannel in it's entirety.
As of now, the gunman(men) have yet to be caught, and the sheriff (Thanks to God for Frank Anderson!, in front of TV cameras, promised he'd make sure those cowards would find their way to Hell. And...If this isn't enough to get folks in the hood to wake up and see that it's the criminal element that runs down a neighborhood...

Before I go into the primary discussion, I found a cool blog tagging and search site, BlogHop. Since Blogstream has no way to tag our blogs, I did a Google search and found several tagging services. BlogHop was one, Technorati is another, though I signed up with the former first. My blog will have to be reviewed before it's listed. Nice site, by the way, and I've just browsed several blogs listed. That is one of my New Years resolutions: Visit and comment on others' blogs. Maybe I can get folks to come here more often.
And I finally settled on a new title. Sort of sums it up, eh?
A few weeks ago, just before Christmas break, one of our local high school principals was picked up for DUI. The entire episode can be seen on YouTube, and the complete story is still available on The Indychannel.
Steve Syverson, principal of Fishers High School, was on his way home from a Christmas party hosted by the district superintendent. However, instead of going straight home, he stopped at a bar and consumed more alcohol. The cop who stopped him gave the usual sobriety tests, which Syverson failed. Ordinarily, Syverson would have been arrested on the spot and taken to the county lock-up. Instead, the cop let him go. Public outcry and a scathing, scolding editorial in the Star resulted in Syverson's suspension with pay pending investigation. While the majority of Fishers students support their principal – I have no doubt he is a fine educator and administrator, and is greatly respected and loved by students and faculty – some feel let down by this role model's thoughtless behavior.
I often wondered if Syverson had been principal at an IPS high school. Would he had been able to talk the cop out of arresting him? Would he had been able to name drop several prominent officials just to get out of a sticky situation? I doubt it.
Then there is the situation itself, and how Syverson didn't practice what he and other adults in charge preach to kids daily: Do not drink and drive. If you go to party where alcohol is served, don't drink! If you do, have a designated driver or call a cab. Don't even think about getting behind the wheel even if you'd had just one cocktail or glass of wine. Your judgment is impaired after just one drink. Thankfully no one was hurt or killed, but so many "What if" scenarios have played out since this incident. What if Syverson slammed into a car full of young people, killing them all, the very students he oversees? What if he crashed into a student's parents' car? A young mother with a baby? The possible tragic outcomes are innumerable.
As of now, he is still on suspension, and most likely will lose his job if the superintendent and school board deems it necessary. I sure he is deep contemplation over this incident, and gets a handle on what could have been a horrible outcome. I'm still seeing red that he thought he could get away with it.

This is an edit of an older post. I've added tags at the bottom plus links to Technorati.
I read an interesting article in Monday's
Indianapolis Star Living section. Now how did the reporter know I was having blog issues? The article is about bloggers and how one can revamp and revitalize their blogs. It offers tips that increases blog hits and comments: Keep it simple, keep it focused, keep it updated, visit and comment others' blogs, network with other bloggers, get listed in blog search engines, join blog rings, etc. All things I did right at first but, in recent months, let fall by the wayside.
I've kept a blog since December 2003. First on Blogcity, then on Diaryland, now on Blogstream. At first the blog got many hits, many comments, and linked to other blogs. I kept it up fairly regularly, and it became much needed therapy. The pressures of work, household tasks, taking care of aging & ailing parents – All combined with incessant insomnia, depression, and the throes of menopause. A blog has been a great way to cope with what life hands down.
However, now, my blog has been idle more than a month, the Merry Christmas entry notwithstanding. I've seemed to run out of ideas, lost focus, and watched the hits and comments dwindle to nothingness.
Therefore, redirection and revitalization is in order. In the next few weeks, I'll revise and re-focus the blog, and I resolve to update it with meaningful content in a timely manner. The title "Crazed's Cerebrations" looks like a misspelling of "Celebrations" – Totally off the mark and not keeping with the blog's focus. I'm toying with possible new titles, more to the "accidental" discovery of new information, opinions, and ideas. The blog will still be "random ramblings and musings" but more focused.
Already I've changed the color scheme on my work palette. The new "look and feel" will go live once I've landed a good & catchy title. I'll also have a couple new entries ready to go. And I promise to keep it up more often!
Questions to Blogstream bloggers: How do you "tag" your blogs? Blogstream doesn't offer such, so what tagging methods do other bloggers use? What about webrings or other networking devices?
As of 01-15-08 I got my tags! Technorati...You should check them out.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Please accept my apologies for not updating this blog in a timely manner. Real life things come first — Like looking after aging, ailing parents which is a full time job in itself. I will post more on that subject in another post. Right now I wish everyone a Peaceful and Happy Christmas season, and a Prosperous and Blessed New Year.
I'll have more to say in 2008, I promise! :)

Just a short entry to invite readers of my blog to join me in playing Daily Trivia. I signed up for daily trivia quizzes sent to my inbox. So far it's fun but it's no fun playing alone. Fun Trivia is free, and they have so many questions on just about every topic. Maybe we can get a tournament going.
I'll have a permanent link on the sidebar soon. | | | |
